How Can I Find Disneyland Discount Tickets?

They say that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. Which may, to some degree be true. Disneyland has helped to incite the nervous energy, wonder and imagination of many children (and adults) for decades. If you’re anything like me, the mere mention of going to meet Mickey Mouse sent shivers down my spine as a child. There is so much for all to enjoy, there is no reason not to fully enjoy yourself when your there. There is; however, one crippling factor associated with Disneyland, the price. The cost associated with Disneyland can be staggering so it makes sense why so many people are seeking Disneyland discount tickets. Discounted tickets are difficult to come by but the good news is, they do exist. You may need to take some creative approaches, but ultimately you will be able to get what you are looking for, while saving some money to boot.

One of the most popular promotions run by Disney was to leverage people’s love of their theme park while at the same time playing to their humanitarian heart strings. Beginning in early 2010 Disney launched a program where people donated a day of volunteer services to a select group of charities and in return they would be rewarded with a one day pass to Disneyland. The goal of the program was to generate one million volunteers to help the needy. This program was such a resounding success that Disney was able to reach its goal by March of 2010. Unfortunately this program has since been stopped; however, it doesn’t mean it won’t start up again. Keep an ear to the rail can help you take advantage of this opportunity while at the same time helping those less fortunate than yourself.

What It Costs

Disney itself offers discount ticket packages over their website. Understandably, the longer your ticket package the cheaper it is (on a per day average). Prices fluctuate depending on the age of the attendee, cheaper for children 3-10, more expensive for adults. Package rates are as follows:

Kids (3-10)     Adults          # of Days       Avg per day- kid        Avg per day- adult
$165                $186                3                    $55.00                          $62.00
$178                $201                4                    $44.50                          $50.25
$186                $211                5                    $37.20                          $42.20
$190                $216                6                    $31.60                          $36.00

While these prices are steep they certainly represent a discount when compared to the one day, gate price of $68 for kids and $76 for adults. There are sporadic discounts available over the Disney website so checking in for new deals may be worth your while.

Other Ways To Find Discount Tickets

Other great Disneyland discount tickets are available through Southern California City Pass. This is a comprehensive discount program applicable to various tourist attractions in southern California. One consolidated, multi day pass, will allow for entrance into a variety of the “hot spot” tourist attractions. Included within the city pass are tickets to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo or the San Diego Wild Animal Park.  When purchasing the southern California city pass in advance you can garner you up to a 30% discount on the various attractions. These multi passes represent a great option; however, can limit your stay in certain attractions.

Simple steps can also help to save you added money. Purchasing your tickets in advance over the Internet can help you save anywhere from 10%-30%. Getting tickets at the park itself can be convenient, but will also result in you paying significantly more. What many people may not already know is that most of us already have access to discount Disneyland tickets through associations or groups that we are already a member of. AAA and CSAA offer great discount programs allowing you to use your membership to get great Disneyland discount tickets. In addition various companies offer discount programs for their employees offering great family getaways for reasonable prices.

Discount Disney tickets, while difficult to obtain are not impossible to come across. It my take a little searching and hard work but ultimately you will be able to impart the joy and excitement of “The Happiest Place on Earth” with your family.
